Student government discussed how to rearrange parking across campus.

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Student government approved plans to change how students are parked across campus.
The Student Government Association approved two new parking proposals that are intended to decrease congestion in P lots, which are closest to dorm buildings.

In their meeting on February 25, Lane Weirrick, a Wright Hall representative and chair of the parking concern committee, reintroduced a proposal to end parking by credit.
Students would instead park based on their year of entry. First-year students would be assigned F lot, second-year students would get O lot, and third and fourth-year students would get P lot.
“The original proposal has been something that I’ve been working on since my first semester in student government last year,” said Weirrick about fall semester 2025. “By removing it, we would have more adequate space for parking.”
A second proposal would automatically allow resident assistants, ABLE mentors, and Sojourners to park in P lot regardless of their year. This proposal would allow these student leaders to easily access vehicles for transportation and for emergency situations.

Both proposals were passed by vote but will be revoted on in an upcoming meeting to allow for further discussion among members.
