BTS is a k-pop band who debuted back in 2013 and in recent years has gained major popularity accredited to their talent. The band consists of seven members (stage names): Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook. You have probably heard of them lately due to their recent collabs with major Western artists such as Steve Aoki, Desiigner, Halsey, Nicki Minaj and Charlie Puth.
BTS have been breaking records the past two years with help from their fanbase, “Armys,” which has helped migrate the k-pop genre to the West to give it the recognition it deserves. Within the past two years, the boys have made major strides in their careers.
They are the first Korean artists to earn the number one spot on the Billboard 200 with the release of their album Love Yourself: Tear, followed by the release of Love Yourself: Answer just a few months later, swiping the number one spot yet again. They have also been the first and only k-pop group to be nominated for (and win) a Billboard Award (Top Social Artist) as well as being the first to perform on U.S. television.
What makes the band stand out from others is its incredible performances, consisting of completely synchronized choreography paired with live vocals. Having been in the business for nearly six years, the members’ ages range from 26 to 21 years old, and they each bring their own unique talent to the group.
The rappers of the group are RM, Suga and J-Hope, the main vocalists are Jungkook, Jin, Jimin and V, while the main dancers are Jungkook, Jimin and J-Hope.
The boys released their newest album, Map of the Soul: Persona, on April 12, and last Tuesday, the album had nearly 3 million pre-orders already. With the new album, they have also announced yet another world tour to start this May and will be visiting select U.S. cities including Los Angeles and Chicago.
If you are looking for some new music to listen to, I recommend downloading a copy of the boys’ album as well as streaming “Boy With Luv” on YouTube this Friday — you won’t regret it.
