Jessica Hatcher is the new Miller and Meadows Hall resident director.
1. Where did you go to school and what did you major in?
I went to Anderson University, and I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and Youth Leadership Development.
2. How did you find out about the open resident director job?
When I was applying for the graduate counseling program, Becca Cline, my admissions counselor, told me about it. Right when I found out, I knew that this would be a wonderful set up, and I began praying about it. I’m thankful that this is where God has brought me.
3. What’s been the hardest part about transitioning into that role?
I think the hardest part has been learning everything at a new school. It is kind of like starting college all over again, meeting new friends, figuring out where everything is and trying to get in a new schedule. Thankfully, I’m surrounded by great people who have helped me out a lot.
4. How have the resident assistants made the transition smoother?
My RA’s have been amazing! They have been able to teach me a lot about Miller/Meadows and campus in general. They have been welcoming and helpful in my transition. We are a great team, and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the year with them.
5. What is the one thing your residents should know about you?
I love residence life. This is definitely the job that God created me to do in this season of my life. I am eager to get to know students and create lots of memories! Here are some fun facts — I love to hammock, drink Coke and I can tap dance.
6. Any final comments?
Get ready for a fun year, Miller/Meadows. We are coming out of retirement!
